Welcome to Farley, a former rural village in the city of Maitland and located in the Hunter Region of NSW. It's name is derived from early settler, Captain Emanuel Hungerford who arrived in NSW in 1828 before purchasing 2,000 acres (810 ha) of property named Lochdon. It's here where he built his homestead he called Farley House, named after his ancestral home of Farleigh Hungerford, Somerset.
Now, Farley is a growing suburb in Maitland undergoing residential development with many new estates and land available for purchase. This is a continuation of nearby Rutherford and is across the wetlands from Gillieston Heights, places which are similar new western suburbs of Maitland Farley is bordered to the north by the Main North railway line, and a station served the surrounding area from 1860 until 1975.
